about us

Serving Bridgetown since 1949

In 1949 the hardware store was 1200 sq ft and was called Fehring Hardware.

In 1953, the store was sold to Jack Volk.

After leaving the hardware business to play drums for the Paul Dixon Show the store was sold to the Runtz family in 1959.

They sold to Dick Schildmeyer in 1964 who sold to Irv Cook, who sold to Dave Hoerst who sold to the Meyer family in 1985.

In 1989 the first major change is made when the store doubles in size.

The store was sold to the current owners Doug & Denise Lindle in 1998.

In 2000 the store again grows to three times it's original size.

In 2001 the store is brought into the 21st century with up to date computers for pricing, inventory and paint color matching.

Now in 2005 we have changed the name to Houseworks, and created a website. Our vision is to build a 10,000 sq ft facility, with up to date paint, hardware, lawn & garden and contractor centers.
